David Sakumura

David
began competitive gymnastics at Shawnee Mission West High School
and earned a gymnastics scholarship to Michigan State. He
then studied the Theory of Coaching Gymnastics as a graduate
student at Tsukuba University Japan under 2-time Olympic
All-Around Gold Medalist Sawao Kato.
David has been coaching gymnastics since
1974, working for several different gyms in Kansas City before
opening Lawrence Gymnastics Academy in 1994. In
addition to his administrative duties, he is an assistant coach
to the women's competitive team. David is a USAG Professional
Member and is Safety Certified.

Carol McGarity
Gym Manager and Preschool Instructor |
Carol
is an enthusiast of children and gymnastics. She has been
coaching gymnastics to preschoolers for eight years. Carol came
to Lawrence Gymnastics Academy in the summer of 2002.
Carol is the gym manager and preschool
instructor. She is a USAG Professional Member, KAT Certified,
MELPD Certified, and Safety Certified.

Randy participated in recreational gymnastics for seven
years. Randy is a graduate of the University of Kansas, USAG
Safety Certified, an Eagle Scout, and a second degree black belt
in Tae Kwon Do. Randy teaches boy's recreational and team
classes, works open gym's and birthday parties, and strives to
keep our facility a clean and safe place for your children.
Randy is a USAG Professional Member and Safety Certified.

Jenn
Pogge
Women's USAG team head coach, |
Jenn was a competitive gymnast here in
Lawrence until an injury forced her to retire. She competed as a
Level 10 gymnast for four years and qualified for the National
TOPPS team. She is currently a Junior at the University of
Kansas majoring in Human Biology/Pre-Med.
Jenn is currently our Women's USAG team head
coach and also coaches Recreational Classes. She is a USAG
Professional Member and Safety Certified.

Jessica Williams
Level 4, 5, Women's USAG Coach. Girls Rec. instructor. |
Jessica was a level 9
competitive gymnast for LGA. She participated in Lawrence High
gymnastics for 3 years when they won state three years in a row!
Jessica is currently a student at Jessica coaches
team girls and teaches recreational classes. She works open gyms
and Parents Morning Out. Jessica is a USAG Professional
Member and Safety Certified.

level 9. Josh is an Engineering Student at the University of
Kansas where he has been a Cheerleader and Yell leader.
Josh coaches boys team level 5-7 and also girls rec classes.
Josh loves to watch his kids grow and develope new skills. Josh
is a USAG Professional Member and Safety Certified
